Hood has a diverse field of interests. He has served on the Wells Fargo Housing Foundation Board where he managed the Foundation's relationships with non-profit housing providers. He has also served as a panelist with the National Endowment for the Arts in Washington, D.C. He is currently on the Board of Trustees of the North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem and a member of the Board of Directors of The Caring House in Durham, N.C. He has also served on numerous committees – including the North Carolina Low Income Housing Coalition, the Duke Ellington School, The Nature Conservancy, and the Folger Library. In his spare time, Hood dabbles in activities as diverse as tennis, skeet shooting, and fly-fishing. He is also busy penning a book on opera.
