DALLAS – A permanent walkway being built to recognize important people and events in Texas' soccer history will carry Texans Credit Union's name. The 1,200-foot esplanade with commemorative markers will run through youth soccer fields at the new Frisco Soccer & Entertainment Center, a 117-acre facility set to open on the north side of the city August 6. With a large majority of its membership located in this section of town, Texans Credit Union has signed an agreement with FSEC as a signature sponsor. "The Texans Credit Union Walk of Fame will honor those who have played a significant part in Texas soccer history," said Lamar Hunt, Chairman of Hunt Sports Group and one of the charter investors in Major League Soccer, which will use the FSEC. "We look forward to recognizing the people who have contributed to helping make soccer such an important part of our sports community." Five individuals will be inducted into the Walk of Fame for the inaugural 2005 season. Honorees may include former players (must be retired for two years), coaches, administrators and other contributors to the sport. Nominations are being accepted through May 20. Texans Credit Union CEO David Addison is serving on the Walk of Fame selection committee. The credit union believes the walkway will serve not only as a tribute to individuals who have influenced the sport, but also as a point of interest to fans visiting the stadium and soccer fields. "I encourage everyone in the soccer community to take an active part in nominating their favorite player," he said.
