DALLAS – In an effort to compensate for the loss of 31 Community Credit Union shared branching locations here following the credit union’s departure from the Texas Credit Union Service Centers network April 30, TCUSC has added eight new locations in the greater Dallas area. Credit Union of Texas, a top-50 credit union, with more than $1.6 billion in assets, and Neighborhood Credit Union, with just over $216 million in assets, will open additional branches for shared branching transactions beginning May 2. Credit Union of Texas is adding six more locations; all 12 of its branches now will provide network access. Neighborhood Credit Union is adding two locations, which will increase its total number of network branches to five. The new shared branching outlets will be in downtown Dallas, Desoto, Lancaster, Mesquite, Richardson, The Colony, Rockwall and Arlington. Discussions are underway with other credit unions to pick up the business left on the table by Community, according to TCUSC Vice President Paul Ellis. “I’d love to say we’re going to be able to immediately fill the footprint CCU will be leaving, but that’s not the case,” Ellis said. “This has, however, given us the opportunity to visit with credit unions that previously could not justify a shared branching business plan because Community had a location nearby.” TCUSC currently has 68 participating credit unions with over $16.9 billion in assets, 2.7 million members and 123 outlets in Texas.
