NEW YORK – Newtek Business Services, Inc., a distributor of services to the small to medium-sized business market, has acquired First Bancard Alliance of Alabama, the company announced on April 18. The acquisition brings 525 new merchant accounts, with the right to acquire 280 additional accounts, and a production office in the Midwest, said Barry Sloane, Newtek chairman/CEO. The Midwest office has historically added approximately 15 new clients per month to the portfolio, he added. “We intend to focus on helping our affiliated companies, operating nationwide under the name of Newtek Merchant Solutions, to make other portfolio acquisitions at attractive market prices when and as available,” Sloane said. Newtek has a partnership with CUNA to bring business services to credit unions.
