RALEIGH, N.C. – Coastal Federal Credit Union Senior Vice President and Strategic Business Officer Chuck Purvis has been named the recipient of the Credit Union Development Education 2005 Volunteer Award for Fundraising and is the latest inductee to Campus Credit Union Council’s (CCUC) Hall of Honor. Purvis received the Volunteer Award for Fundraising in honor of his work with the National Credit Union Foundation and his development of the Community Investment Fund (CIF), a primary funding mechanism for local, state and national credit union development activities. The CIF is a partnership of the NCUF, U.S. Central Credit Union, corporate credit unions and state credit union leagues. From 1997 to 1999, Purvis served as chairman of CCUC’s National Advisory Committee and during his tenure, he helped persuade student-run credit unions to broaden their vision to help ensure the long-term sustainability of CCUC. He was also instrumental in helping the council to secure grants from NCUF. “We’re very fortunate to have someone like Chuck as part of the Coastal leadership team,” said Coastal FCU President/CEO Larry Wilson. “Not only is he an important asset to our organization, he’s also a respected and valued leader of the credit union movement nationwide.”
