TULLAHOMA, Tenn. - In honor of her nearly 50 years of service to AEDC Federal Credit Union, a scholarship has been named in former President/CEO Jimmie Bearden's name. Bearden retired in January 2004 after serving 36 years at the helm. She started her career at the $960 million CU in 1956 as a clerk and was promoted to loan officer and then to assistant manager. The $2,500 Jimmie Bearden Leadership Scholarship will be awarded to a Tullahoma High School senior each year beginning with this year's graduating class. "Mrs. Bearden honorably served this credit union and community for 48 years before retiring in 2004," said Caren Gabriel, AEDC FCU's president/CEO. "Under her leadership, this credit union grew literally from a one-room operation to one of the most respected financial institutions in Tennessee. Her life has been an example of leadership that all students should strive to emulate." Chartered in 1951, AEDC FCU serves more than 120,000 members.
