TULLAHOMA, Tenn. - In honor of her nearly 50 years of service toAEDC Federal Credit Union, a scholarship has been named in formerPresident/CEO Jimmie Bearden's name. Bearden retired in January2004 after serving 36 years at the helm. She started her career atthe $960 million CU in 1956 as a clerk and was promoted to loanofficer and then to assistant manager. The $2,500 Jimmie BeardenLeadership Scholarship will be awarded to a Tullahoma High Schoolsenior each year beginning with this year's graduating class. "Mrs.Bearden honorably served this credit union and community for 48years before retiring in 2004," said Caren Gabriel, AEDC FCU'spresident/CEO. "Under her leadership, this credit union grewliterally from a one-room operation to one of the most respectedfinancial institutions in Tennessee. Her life has been an exampleof leadership that all students should strive to emulate."Chartered in 1951, AEDC FCU serves more than 120,000 members.
