PLYMOUTH, Mich. — With the record growth of small businesses, the Michigan Credit Union League will co-host a two-day MBL conference to help credit unions explore courting entrepreneurs. The conference, which is also being sponsored by Walsh College here and the Michigan Council of the Credit Union Executives Society, will take place April 13-14 at the Radisson Suite – Farmington Hills, 37529 Grand River Ave. in Farmington Hills. Speakers will include Gary Dzieken, who has been an NCUA principal examiner for 17 years and was selected by the regulator to specialize in commercial lending. Dzieken has also completed coursework on commercial lending sponsored by the FDIC and Moody’s. His presentation, which will take place at 2:30 on April 14, will focus on NCUA’s MBL program requirements. Topics on the agenda include the ABCs of commercial lending and essential elements; process, policy, privacy and compliance; implementation concerns and evaluation; and an overview of the Walsh College Certificate Program in Commercial Lending. Several professors from Walsh College as well as Scott McDonald, manager of member services and loans at SOC Credit Union will give presentations.
