NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. – Imagine gaining access to your safety deposit box by having your hand scanned in the vault area – that’s what’s happening at South Carolina Federal Credit Union’s newest state-of-the-art branch. The new branch in Charleston features RemoteTeller and PassVault technologies. PassVault uses biometrics to record the unique measurements of members’ hands for identification, allowing them secure access to their safe deposit boxes without assistance from an employee. RemoteTeller allows credit union members to talk to tellers via a video monitor from a private console and send money through a pneumatic tube. “We are excited to open another location in North Charleston,” said South Carolina FCU CEO, Scott Woods during the ribbon cutting ceremony. “There are now only two technological branches like this in the state, and South Carolina Federal Credit Union owns both of them,” he said. The credit union first used PassVault and RemoteTeller systems in its Southampton branch in Mt.Pleasant, and is considering adding more state-of-the-art technology branches in the future.
