TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – More than 75 credit union volunteers and staff were at the state capitol March 15 to witness the unanimous vote by the state Senate Committee of Banking and Insurance of a bill that updates portions of the Florida Credit Union Act to conform with the Federal Credit Union Act. The committee's vote on SB 1330 sponsored by Sen. Jeff Atwater (R-North Palm Beach) culminates several months of work by Florida credit unions, representatives of the Florida Office of Financial Institutions, and staff of members of the Senate Committee of Banking and Insurance. SB 1330 has already been approved unanimously by the House Economic Development, Trade and Banking Committee last week. The measure now goes to the full Senate floor.
