OLYMPIA, Wash. – Gov. Christine Gregoire has appointed Scott Jarvis as the new director of the state Department of Financial Institutions. Jarvis succeeds Helen Howell who resigned from the position Feb. 25. Jarvis most recently worked at DFI as deputy commissioner in the Office of the Insurance Commissioner. He also served as legal counsel in the Office of the State Treasurer. Washington Credit Union League President/CEO John Annaloro said the league was “extremely pleased” with Gov. Gregoire's appointment. “Scott brings the promise of leadership and a well-developed knowledge of financial affairs to the DFI. We look forward to working with him in the near future,” said Annaloro. Gregoire said her charge to Jarvis and the department is to continue to provide consumer protection as well as give all the state's financial institutions a predictable and stable regulatory environment.
