WASHINGTON-When members of the House saw his interest and skill in showing visitors around the Capitol, CUNA President and CEO Dan Mica, a former Democratic congressman from Florida became the natural choice as a tour guide to VIPs. When in town, one should take up an offer for a guided tour of the Capitol with Mica, who is able to enter many places the usual public tours cannot go. Jacques Cousteau and news personality Joan London are just a couple of the visitors Mica has shown around the Capitol. Mica served on the Hill as a congressional staffer for 20 years, plus did another 10 in Congress. He has been a member of the Capitol Historical Society for “as long as I can remember,” probably around 30 years. Visitors on this tour-Navy Federal Credit Union President and CEO Cutler Dawson, FDIC Federal Credit Union President and CEO Theresa Mann, and Bank Fund Staff Federal Credit Union Director of Operations Joan Dombroski-remarked on how the House chambers seemed large on C-SPAN, but actually appears much smaller inside.
