ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – More money will be available to credit unions in the tsunami-ravaged region of South Asia thanks to PSCU Financial Services. The card processing cooperative that serves over 500 credit unions that process their card transactions with First Data Corp. has donated $50,000 to the World Council of Credit Unions’ Tsunami Relief Fund. The fund is being operated out of the World Foundation of Credit Unions Fund that provides disaster relief for credit unions outside the U.S. The donation pushes the amount of money donated to WOCCU for the relief effort to more than $400,000, PSCU said. “Credit unions are faced with the daunting task of reconstructing financial records, in addition to rebuilding facilities, equipment, supplies and cash that were swept into the ocean,” said PSCU CEO David Serlo. “We would like to do our part to help these credit unions get back on their feet.”
