ALEXANDRIA, Va. – Members of the Love Gospel Assembly church, located in the Bronx, New York, have long relied upon their church for a variety of services, from housing assistance to medical care, and now they will be able to count financial services as well. NCUA has announced the charter of the Love Gospel Assembly Federal Credit Union in the Bronx, N.Y. The low-income credit union is the third the agency has chartered in less than three months and membership will be open to members of the church. The addition of the faith based CU brings the number of faith-based credit unions to approximately 400 nationwide, with collective assets of more than $3 billion, the agency said. "The charter of this credit union is another example of how NCUA is assisting leaders in communities as they strive to empower their members to gain financial stability," said NCUA Chairman JoAnn Johnson. "I commend the church leaders for recognizing the need to serve their members and working tirelessly to execute and charter this credit union."
