LATHAM, N.Y. – U.S. Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-N.Y.) has been chosen by the board of the New York State Credit Union League as this year's recipient of their Legislator of the Year award. The award will be presented to Rep. Maloney at a reception March 1 during CUNA's GAC. The congresswoman was chosen for her strong support of credit unions. Congresswoman Maloney has consistently showed an understanding of the credit union difference, said NYSCUL President/CEO William Mellin. She and her key staff have also always been accessible to New York State Credit Union League lobbyists, as well as to local credit union leaders, he added. Maloney is a member of the House Financial Services, Government Reform and Join Economic Committees. She is one of the original co-sponsors of the Credit Union Regulatory Improvements Act.
