LOWELL, Mass. – Jeanne D'Arc Credit Union has teamed up with a project based after school program known as Project.Self. The program focuses on five core subject areas and is designed to create strong links between the information taught in school and similar real life experiences. Through hands-on participation and community involvement, students will work on their math, reading/writing, science/technology, arts/culture, and health/physical educational skills. JDCU Youth Program Coordinator Anne Marie Bisson will donate her time and expertise in the classroom by helping students understand how math impacts everyday life. Implementing several different methodologies, Bisson will teach the students lessons on the value of money along with how to spend and save it. Practice exercises, reading, puzzles, and other games are just a few of the fun activities students will be working on while enrolled in the 16-week program. Participating schools will have structured academic and enrichment courses five days per week for 2.5 hours per day. The hours are broken down to include small group tutoring, homework, and active learning.
