DULUTH, Ga. – Georgia Central Credit Union says that 166 credit unions across the country have signed up so far to use its MemberMatch secure loan participation Web site at www.gacentral.org/ www/MemberMatch.asp. The program allows credit unions to buy and sell loans among themselves over the Internet and has picked up three additional corporate CU sponsors – First Carolina, TRICORP and Treasure State. "Taking the product national was without doubt the right decision. The larger the population of users, the better the choices we're providing to all credit unions," says Greg Moore, president/CEO of $1.4 billion Georgia Central. "We're also thrilled that the program presented us with another opportunity to partner with other corporates," Moore says. "Their involvement expands the number of credit unions using MemberMatch, boosting the likelihood of credit unions matches." Treasure State President/CEO Brad Miller, whose $123 million corporate in Helena, Mont., was the first to sign on as a sponsor, says, "We view MemberMatch as a natural extension and a good complement to our comprehensive line of liquidity services for our members. Also, MemberMatch represents another effective way for corporate credit unions to band together in order to better serve all credit unions." The corporate sponsors held their first meeting in December to discuss the future direction of MemberMatch.
