WASHINGTON – Sens. Charles Grassley (R-Iowa), Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) and John McCain (R-Ariz.) are scheduled to speak at the Consumer Federation of America's 38th Annual Consumer Assembly March 10 and 11. FTC Chairman Deborah Platt Majors is also expected to address attendees. This year the Assembly will focus on consumer protection in an era of global change. The two-day event will feature a variety of activists, opinion leaders and decision makers on consumer issues. National experts will outline critical public policy issues concerning credit cards, video choice, tort reform, product safety and Internet security. Among the topics of sessions during the Assembly are "Credit Card Practices: The Real Cost to Consumers Increasingly in Debt"; "Consumer Abuses Against the Military"; and "The Future of Consumer Journalism."
