WASHINGTON-House Financial Services Committee Chairman Michael G. Oxley (R-Ohio) announced a new arrival to the committee. Second-term Congressman Steve Pearce (R-N.M.) will be joining the Financial Services Committee, which holds jurisdiction over many credit union issues. He replaces Congressman John Shadegg (R-Ariz.) on the committee. "Steve has an impressive background and well-established community and military leadership record. I welcome him and look forward to his contributions to the debate and legislative products of the Financial Services Committee," Oxley said. He plans to appoint Pearce to the Subcommittees on Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit and Housing and Community Opportunity. Pearce is a former small businessman, elected to the House in 2002 from New Mexico's 2nd District. Prior to that, he served in the state legislature and served as a pilot in the Air Force.
