WASHINGTON – Dr. P.A. Kiriwandeniya, chairman of the SANASA Development Bank, will be the special guest speaker at the World Council of Credit Unions' Annual International Reception on Feb. 26. Kiriwandeniya will give an update on the status of credit unions in his country and tsunami disaster relief efforts that are underway for people affected by the recent disaster. The international credit union movement, through WOCCU's Worldwide Foundation, has pledged over $350,000 to help rebuild SANASA. Other special program speakers will include Minister Stefano Stefanini, Deputy Chief of Mission; WOCCU chairman L.R. (Bobby) McVeigh; and WOCCU Interim President/CEO Dr. Brian Branch. Attendees will also get a preview of WOCCU's 2005 Credit Union Conference which will be held in Rome July 24-27. The reception is being held at the Embassy of Italy.
