PITTSBURGH – Credit union attendees at the Jan. 26th meeting of the Pittsburgh Chapter of the Pennsylvania Credit Union Association heard some encouraging words from special guest speaker Congressman Mike Doyle (D-Pa.). The fifth term congressman told the more than 70 credit union volunteers and professionals who attended that credit unions have enough votes in Congress to defeat any attempts by bankers to tax CUs. In his address, Doyle covered several important issues including the economy, Social Security reform and the budget deficit. He concluded his remarks by voicing his overall support for credit unions. Doyle represents the 14th District of Pennsylvania in Congress. He is a member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee and sits on three subcommittees – Energy and Air Quality; Telecommunications and the Internet; and Environment and Hazardous Materials. He is also a member of the House Democratic Caucus.
