RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. – The California Credit Union League has a new political finance director, and she’s Katie Newton, the California Republican Party’s deputy finance director. Newton starts in her new position Jan. 27. She’ll report to CCUL SVP of Government Affairs Bob Arnould. In her new position, Newton is responsible for meeting the annual political action committee fund-raising goals of the California and Nevada Credit Union leagues. She will also serve as League liaison to regional PACs operated by California and Nevada credit unions. As deputy finance director of the California Republican Party, Newton coordinated fund-raising and events for the party, the Senate and Assembly Republican leadership, and Team California which she described as being “the account at the California Republican Party that directly benefits the federal races.” In 2002, she was also deputy campaign manager for the first and successful campaign by Jeff Denham to the state Senate 12th District. Denham is a member of the state Senate Banking Committee. Before working for the California Republican Party, Newton served as associate consultant to the California State Assembly Republican Caucus, and as Denham’s deputy campaign manager for his 2000 campaign for the 28th Assembly District.
