ARLINGTON, Va.- NAFCU Communications Manager John Zimmerman recently announced that he would be leaving the trade association's public relations team to move overseas. Zimmerman will be leaving NAFCU February 11 to prepare for a move to Cyprus. His wife, Jane, serves in the State Department and has been given a three-year assignment there. The Zimmermans do not have an exact date when they will be leaving the states but it will be some time this summer. "After doing congressional work so long, it was fun to try my hand at press work after returning from overseas, but regardless of the job, it's always a privilege to work with credit unions," Zimmerman commented. Initially, he worked as NAFCU's director of legislative affairs for more than three years beginning in 1989. He then served as congressional liaison in NCUA's Office of Public and Congressional Affairs from 1992-1997. Zimmerman spent two years overseas in Tunisia on a previous assignment his wife was given. He has worked in his current position at NAFCU since the summer of 1999.
