WASHINGTON – Credit unions that want to connect content with their members’ concerns could do worse than providing information about identity theft. According to the Callahan & Associates Survey Consortium, 79% of the 18,000 respondents to a recent survey of online members of participating credit unions said ways to protect themselves from identity theft would fall under the category of “most useful information.” In addition, 75% said “what to do about it when it occurs” also would fall under that category, while information about types of online attacks (61%), credit monitoring (60%), complaint filing (53%) and CU Web site security (51%) also were of high interest. Those and other findings are available in a new research report from Callahan titled “Online Identity Theft – Identifying Risk, Opportunities and Educating Members.” The report also includes case studies from Northrup Grumman FCU, Redwood CU, Ent FCU, Sandia Laboratory FCU, Deere & Company CU and Bellco CU. The cost for the downloadable research report is $149. For more information, go to www.creditunions.com/store/research.
