LYNCHBURG, Va. – Karin Sherbin was named the Virginia Credit Union League's new director of governmental affairs, effective Jan. 3. Sherbin succeeds Deb Thomas who left the league to care for her three children, including one newborn. In her new position, Sherbin will conduct many of the Virginia League's lobbying and governmental affairs functions. Her duties will also include political action committee development and legislative consulting for Virginia's 225 credit unions. A member of Central Virginia CU for five years, Sherbin brings 18 years of public and governmental relations experience to her new job. She has served as the director of press relations to the Connecticut Speaker of the House and most recently served as the director of public relations for Thomas Jefferson's Poplar Forest. Sherbin holds a bachelor's degree in journalism/political science from the University of Rhode Island.
