ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – U.S. service personnel wounded in action in Afghanistan or Iraq will have a little bit easier time of it thanks in part to a contribution from PSCU Financial Services, the card servicing cooperative for 500 credit unions that process their card transactions with First Data Inc. The organization has donated $100,000 to help injured service veterans and their families. The cooperative announced that it has donated $50,000 to the Marine Semper Fi Fund, $25,000 to the Army Emergency Relief Fund and $25,000 to the Air Force Aid Society. The money will be used to cover expenses such as reduction of income during deployments and traveling expenses for family members who travel to be with injured service personnel. The cooperative noted that the money is sorely needed. In the first five months of its operation, from June to November 2004, the Semper Fi Fund provided $400,000 in financial assistance to 300 families, the cooperative reported.
