ONTARIO, Calif. – The CO-OP Network, the largest credit union-owned, fee-free ATM network in the country, reached a landmark late in 2004. According to a source within the cooperative, CO-OP did over a billion transactions last year. The billionth transaction occurred on Wednesday, December 29, sometime between 2:00 and 3:00 p.m. the source said. A billion transactions per year is yet another milestone for the network and marks its growing stature within the ATM industry nationwide. Should Discover's purchase of the PULSE ATM/EFT network go through, CO-OP Network may be the largest ATM Network owned by financial institutions in the nation.
