Christian Community Credit Union, Colvina, Calif., has purchased a new minivan for missionaries to use while on home assignment through the Cards that Give to Missions & Ministries program. The credit card program applies a percentage of the interchange income generated from credit card purchases to missions and ministries projects. In 2004, CCCU donated $200,000. Since the program began in 1994 over $1.5 million has been donated. Travis Credit Union, Vacaville, Calif., staffers have donated their time to a Tribute to Seniors Day at the Ulatis Community Center here. Some 1,000 seniors attended the event. Travis CU provided financial education tools and opportunities during the all-day event geared to seniors. Central Florida Educators Federal Credit Union, Orlando, has awarded a total of $100,000 to 10 public schools in Orange County. The funds will be used to buy new books for the schools' media centers. CFEFCU has pledged half a million dollars over a five-year period so that schools may purchase books, software and other educational supplies. The first donation of $100,000 was awarded last year. Kinecta Federal Credit Union, Manhattan Beach, Calif., helped raise $15,000 during its first-ever Silent Auction to benefit the Children's Miracle Network/Children's Hospital Los Angeles. Bidders took home items ranging from a Day of Golf at Trump National with Teresa Freeborn, senior vice president, marketing/communications, to a Bob Mackie Collector's Edition Barbie Doll, to original artwork and handmade jewelry. Valley Credit Union, Calif., has raised nearly $21,000 during its 2nd Annual Charity Golf Tournament to benefit two local non-profit organizations, Via Rehabilitation Services and InnVision-The Way Home.
