BETHPAGE, N.Y. – Bethpage Federal Credit Union has teamed up with local area newspaper Newsday to shine the spotlight on local not-for-profit stars. Dubbed `Community Champions' the program profiles the contributions of the Long Island-based and New York metro area not-for-profit community. As part of the program, two selected nonprofits will be profiled each Sunday in Newsday's Life Section-one in the Long Island edition and the other in the Queens edition. The public is invited to nominate nonprofit organizations and forms will be available at www.Newsday.com, www.Bethpagefcu.com, and through Bethpage branches. The multi-media campaign also includes Friday morning and afternoon drive time radio broadcasts on WALK 97.5 FM, online postings at www.newsday.com and www.bethpagefcu.com, highlights in the monthly publication BusinessLI, and promotional displays at Bethpage's 10 branches. "Bethpage is a nonprofit financial cooperative committed to the Long Island communities we serve," said Bethpage FCU Assistant Vice President Linda Armyn. "It provides us the means to present with Newsday highlights and public awareness of the accomplishments of 104 charitable, educational, and human services organizations that benefit the quality of lives in the New York metro area and on Long Island." "Community Champions continues Newsday's tradition of profiling those achievements and achievers who contribute to our greater good, whether `Everyday Hero' or `Community Champion'," added Newsday Marketing Vice President Paul Fleishman.
