HARAHAN, La. – Carol Daigle Michelli, president/CEO of the $22 million LES FCU, died Nov. 10. She was 63. A 33-year credit union veteran, Michelli received the Louisiana Credit Union League's Professional of the Year award in 2002 for her service as a credit union professional and efforts on the local, state, and national levels to advance the credit union philosophy. Michelli began her credit union career in 1971 as a part-time clerk at LES FCU. She was named CEO of the credit union 12 years later. Among her many professional accomplishments was her service to the board of CU Cooperative Branching LLC and her activities with the Baton Rouge Credit Union Manager's Association and the Baton Rouge Credit Union Chapter. She was also a staunch supporter of the Credit Union Legislative Action Committee activities. Michelli is survived by her husband, son, daughters and sons-in-law, and one granddaughter. LCUL President/CEO Anne Cochran said Michelli "will be greatly missed by the credit union community. She was very special to everyone who knew her. We will truly miss Carol's leadership, her commitment, her philosophy as well as the cooperative credit union spirit which she contributed to CU Cooperative Branching. Her sacrifice of service has been an inspiration to all of us that have had the pleasure of working with her over the years." The funeral for Michelli was on Nov. 12.
