AUSTIN, Texas – Add University Federal Credit Union to the growing list of credit unions being recognized for their outstanding workplace environment. Recently the $594 million credit union has earned the distinction of being named one of the Best Places to Work in Central Texas by the Austin Business Journal for large companies with more than 250 employees. “We are committed to providing a quality employee experience,” said UFCU Senior Manager of Human Resources Yvonne Brooks. “Our goal is to ensure that our employees enjoy the same high-quality service that we provide our members,” Brooks adds that a competitive and attractive total compensation package, and the feeling of family allow UFCU to enjoy a high level of employee retention. Programs such as leadership development, fitness reimbursement, matching charitable contributions, employee assistance, and discounted employee loans are available to all staffers. In addition, Brooks says many employees take advantage of the credit union’s extensive onsite training and development opportunities, as well as tuition reimbursement program. As of the third quarter of this year UFCU has reimbursed almost $52,000 to 37 full and part-time employees pursuing a college degree. The recognition was achieved based on employee survey feedback measuring key areas of employee commitment and satisfaction, such as alignment with goals, people practices, and work engagement and values. According to the credit union, results of the survey show that if you have to work, UFCU is one of the best places in Austin to do it.
