Mike Welch is right on about Lake Michigan Credit Union's solid performance statistics (CU Times, Nov. 3). Their numbers are indeed impressive with a 2%-plus Return on Assets. Currently their capital ratio is falling despite the phenomenal ROA. So the real fix is getting the NCUA to lower the net worth requirements to match that of a bank, or give credit unions other avenues to raise capital.
