MADISON, Wis. – Despite two negotiating sessions, CUNA Mutual and its union aren’t making much progress. The two sides met for negotiations on Nov. 5 and 9. Both sides conceded that very little, if anything, was accomplished during the two meetings, and the scheduled meeting for Nov. 12 has been called off. According to CUNA Mutual, the union is rehashing old issues about its current proposal that have already been discussed. While the union says it’s trying to get tentative agreements passed on language already contained in CUNA Mutual’s offer to no avail. CUNA Mutual says the union has made changes to the language, and that’s why agreements could not be reached. The union has submitted another information request to the company, which it says it will fulfill. CUNA Mutual still believes its June 30 offer deserves to be voted on by the union membership. “CUNA Mutual stands by our offer. It is one of the leading wage, benefit and overall packages in the entire area. Our offer positions the company to continue to be financially strong, retain our ratings, and provide well-compensated jobs,” said CUNA Mutual spokesperson Sydney Lindner. “It strengthens the company’s competitiveness, productivity, and service to our credit union policyholders and their members. We believe it is an excellent offer and deserves ratification.”
