LONDONDERRY, N.H. – Londonderry has its first and only credit union and it is fitting that it's St. Mary's Bank-the first credit union in the nation. The 3,800 square-foot facility, which features six teller stations, two drive-up lanes and a drive-up ATM, also marks the $482 million credit union's first branch outside of its Manchester hub. "Londonderry is part of our primary market area and with about 700 households here that do business with St. Mary's it is a natural extension for us," said St. Mary's Bank Marketing Director/Vice President Elizabeth Stodolski. "It is about better serving our members with a more convenient branch. Not to mention the biggest advantage, which is we are the first and only credit union here." Located in a strong retail environment across from a Home Depot, the building had once housed a bank and most recently the Town of Londonderry offices. A tip to St. Mary's Bank President/CEO Ronald Rioux from a local resident who was aware the town had planned to relocate its offices, led to the credit union's purchase and a complete interior renovation. Decorated with some blues and soft wood tones the branch has been dubbed an updated "traditional" with a greeter station up front to welcome members and help them as needed. Members can also enjoy a cup of coffee at the station. "We wanted the environment to be very inviting and a place where members feel very comfortable," said Stodolski. The Londonderry branch is the credit union's fifth facility.
