Idaho State University Federal Credit Union, Pocatello, Board Chairman Professor Robert J. Tokle has been named CU Conferences' Director of the Year. The award itself was created to honor contributions to the board's effectiveness, specific job accomplishments, community involvement and public relations activities, and support and contribution to the CU movement. Recipients are nominated by their peers. Tokle, a Professor of Economics at Idaho State University, is a longtime activist in the credit union movement and a community volunteer. Postal Credit Union, Woodbury, Minn., has been named the winner of the "Favorite Hometown Business Award" from this year's Fall Round-Up Grande Parade. A panel of seven judges selected PCU's entry, "The Cooler Credit Union," out of more than 90 units taking part. The award is the first in PCU's parade history. The trophy will be displayed at the credit union's North St. Paul office. PCU also sponsored the North St. Paul High School Marching Band in the parade. PCU has been a supporter of the popular event for 4 years. AmeriChoice Federal Credit Union, Mechanicsburg, Pa., has received the Outstanding Small Business Award from the Council for Public Education. The credit union was acknowledged for its commitment to Excellence in Education and the many ways in which it supports this vital initiative. AmeriChoice FCU works with local school districts to provide several support services with contributions ranging from volunteering time to donating money and materials to help the schools. Marion & Polk Schools Credit Union, Salem, Ore., Head Teller Leona Esplin has been named Stellar Teller. Esplin was recognized for her consistent excellent balancing record, a strong referral rate, and receiving top marks on her member evaluations. N & W Federal Credit Union, Warrenville, Ill., former CEO/Manager Shirley Wilhelm has been presented the Indiana 2004 Mid-States Chair's Award. The Mid-States Chair's Award recognizes an individual who best demonstrates Mid-States' LIFE values: Leadership, Integrity, Flexibility and Excellence. Wilhelm has served the credit union movement for 45 years, starting her career at the DOD Federal Credit Union in 1958. Earlier this year she was inducted into the Indiana Credit Union Hall of Fame. Colorado Credit Union League, Arvada, has announced the first place and honorable mention winners of two CU recognition programs. Johns Manville Credit Union, Air Academy Federal Credit Union and Colorado State Employees Credit Union have won state first place awards for the Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Recognition Program and U of C Federal Credit Union and Colorado Central Credit Union have won state first place awards for the Louise Herring Award for Philosophy in Action. Redstone Federal Credit Union, Huntsville, Ala., Madison Branch Manager Liz Bradford has been named the Volunteer of the Year by the Madison Chamber of Commerce. Bradford was recognized for her involvement and support, not only in the Chamber, but also in the Madison community. Bradford was nominated to the chamber board and took over as its Youth Leadership Director and is chair of the chamber's new Business Development Committee.
