SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The $2.2 billion Randolph Brooks FCU continues to be an aggregator for surcharge-free credit union ATM access in Texas. It has partnered with the $250 million Air Force FCU to combine their ATM fleets. The deal between the two San Antonio-based credit unions will give their combined 262,000 members surcharge-free access to 70 ATMs around the state. Before the deal, Air Force FCU members had access to 17 machines, and Randolph Brooks FCU members had access to 53 machines. This move continues Randolph Brooks' policy of linking up its ATM fleet in surcharge-free arrangements with other Texas credit unions. The large military credit union already has similar arrangements with three other credit unions around the state. “From our perspective it just made a lot of sense to partner with another military credit union that is also located in San Antonio,” said Sheila Burrow, vice president of administration for Air Force FCU. “This is really a win-win situation for everyone,” she added. But Burrows also clarified that her members would only have surcharge-free access to Randolph Brooks' machines, not those from the other credit unions that Randolph Brooks partnered with. Although Air Force FCU just placed two new ATMs at Air Force bases in Texas and Mississippi, Burrow acknowledged that the partnership with Randolph Brooks was one way to rapidly expand access to surcharge-free machines.
