If it is possible that there is any downside to meeting in Hawaii, it is only that it takes a long time and lots of money to get there, for both people and for stuff, such as expo booths, handouts, etc. For years Credit Union Times has taken pride in the fact that it has made complimentary, hot-off-the-press issues available to credit union conference goers wherever and whenever the meetings are held. That means that attendees at credit union meetings throughout the 50 states have come to expect that the most current issue will always be available to them on site. They routinely look for Credit Union Times to be on hand in our exhibit hall booth and take for granted that it will be placed outside participants' hotel room doors during the wee hours of the morning. Making that happen for the CUNA Future Forum in Hawaii presented a challenge. Reasons why include the short time (less than two days) our Wisconsin-based printer has to produce the larger-than usual issue, the five-hour time differential, and a shortage of overnight delivery companies that can guarantee Saturday delivery (Hawaii time) to the Aloha state. But Advertising Director Laurie Sorrentino found a way to get it done. Thanks to her dogged determination to get the special conference issue there in time for distribution as the Future Forum gets underway, participants will actually be the first readers to see the special Future Forum issue of October 17th. Where there is a will there is a way. Thanks Laurie.
