MADISON, Wis. – Some 400 members of the CUNA Mutual Credit Union Spirit Team recently braved the elements to participate in a 5K Walk to Cure Diabetes. In addition to being the presenting sponsor of the walk, CUNA Mutual employees contributed – through pledges, bake sales and spaghetti lunches – $38,700 of the nearly $500,000 expected to be raised by all 3,000 walkers. All proceeds from the event go to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation for research in finding a cure. With his daughter Jordan diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, the event struck a personal chord for CUNA Mutual Members Solution Group Senior Vice President Kevin Lentz who served as corporate recruitment chair. Also joining the Credit Union Spirit Team were acting president/ CEO Jeff Holley, his wife, Terri and their five children. Since 1995, CUNA Mutual and its employees have donated more than $385,000 to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
