WASHINGTON-The Credit Union Legislative Action Council of CUNA put big bucks in the pockets of many newcomers on the national political scene in September. Contributions of $5,000 each were made to newcomers Virginia Foxx (R-N.C.), Russ Carnahan (D-Mo.), Thomas Price (R-Ga.), Michael Fitzpatrick (R-Pa.), Joe Schwarz (R-Mich.), Patrick McHenry (R-N.C.), Charlie Dent (R-Pa.) and Allyson Schwartz (D-Pa.). In addition, $5,000 contributions went to incumbents Nick Lampson (D-Texas) and Dennis Moore (D-Kan.). Senator Norm Coleman's (R-Minn.) Northstar Leadership PAC also received $5,000 from CULAC. Other top recipients from CULAC included Congresswoman Stephanie Herseth (D-S.D.; $4,000), who recently signed onto the Credit Union Regulatory Improvements Act, and Katherine Harris (R-Fla.; $4,000).
