Water and Power Community Credit Union, Los Angeles, has raised over $1,000 to benefit the Pacific Division Deputy Auxiliary Police Services, the Los Angeles Fire Department Adopt-A-Fire Station program and local schools by serving breakfast. Tapping L.A. City Council Member Antonio R. Villaraigosa and Congresswoman Maxine Waters as chefs WPCCU hosted a Community Pancake Breakfast fundraiser. In addition to breakfast attendees were treated to pony rides, a petting petting zoo and had the opportunity to meet and greet members of the Los Angeles Fire and Police departments who turned out in force, equipped with their emergency vehicles and hearty appetites. Digital Federal Credit Union, Marlborough, Mass., has recently donated a total of $53,000 to the Jimmy Fund. The Jimmy Fund supports the fight against cancer at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, helping to raise the chances of survival for children and adults with cancer around the world. DCU sponsored Friday Night Baseball on UPN38-TV in Boston throughout the 2004 season. After each Friday night game, the announcers chose a Red Sox player who went "Beyond the Call." In honor of each of these players, DCU donated $1,000 in their name to the Jimmy Fund. Additional funds were donated by DCU during the 3rd Annual WEEI Jimmy Fund Radiothon. The Boston Red Sox adopted the Jimmy Fund as its official charity in 1953. HarborOne Credit Union, Brockton, Mass., has donated $5,000 to the annual Appeal Campaign of Old Colony Hospice. The donation will help continue programs for patient care and services. The nursing staff can now care for as many as 60 patients per day. Old Colony Hospice has been dedicated to preserving the dignity and quality of life for terminally ill patients since 1979. Portland Teachers Credit Union, Ore., has donated $5,000 to support Childspree for Kidney Kids through the National Kidney Foundation of Oregon & Washington. Nationally, Mervyn's hosts the two hour-long shopping sprees, providing an average of $100 to each child. The funds help children whose lives are directly affected by kidney disease. This is the fourth year Portland Teachers Credit Union has participated in the event and this year some 110 local children participated .
