SANTA ANTA, Calif. – Members at Orange County's Credit Union now have access to SBA 7(a) loans. Judith McCartney, president/CEO of $759 million OCCU said "if we had tried to do this by ourselves, we would not have been up and running this quickly." OCCU used the expertise at J.R. Bruno and Associates, a Glendora, Calif.-based business lending consulting firm to credit unions. The ability to offer SBA loans is a major step towards providing business services to the members of OCCU, and improving the small business climate in Orange County, McCartney said. The credit union participated in a 750 license signing ceremony on Sept. 15 in Santa Ana with Sandy Sutton, district director of the Santa Ana office of the U.S. Small Business Administration. The 750 license grants OCCU admission to the SBA's 7(a) program. OCCU serves more than 78,000 members.
