MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions last week launched a Financial Literacy Resource Center linked to the agency’s main Web site to serve as a clearinghouse of financial literacy tools. The site – http://www.finlitwi.org/default/ – is designed to help teachers, parents and students connect to Web sites that have ready-to-go, real-life financial literacy information. Teachers, for example, can find resources on the Web site for classroom curricula, while parents can research financial information such as basic personal finance and investing tips. Students can access the Web site to gather information from the elementary through college level that will help them manage their finances. The DFI also launched a second Web site that provides “angel investors” a directory of resources that can help them in forming and running angel networks in the state. Using this tool, the DFI said it hopes to foster investments in entrepreneurial activity that will create high-wage jobs in certified Wisconsin companies.
