PASADENA, Calif. – The $2.6 billion Wescom Credit Union, headquartered in Pasadena, achieved a 2000% increase in their ATM transactions in the 18 months since the credit union contracted with eFunds to puts its brand on 160-area ATMs, according to Wescom vice president Kevin Sarber. Sarber explained that the credit union, which is already a CO-OP Network member, contracted with eFunds to put its brand, welcome screen, and other insignia, for a fee, on the machines which are deployed in southern California Savon drug stores. The additional machines bring Wescom's total to 240 ATMs. The machines also carry the logo of CO-OP Network, Sarber explained. Wescom considered the move primarily a member service strategy and a way to further enhance its checking accounts. Sarber said eFunds keeps the income generated by the machines as well as the branding fee. Other credit unions have similar arrangements with eFunds, but the company declined to specify which ones.
