Overdraftprotection, a burgeoning product among credit unions, was thesubject of the just expired Credit Union Times online voting poll.The question and results are as follows: Overdraft protection hasbeen under the regulatory microscope of late. Some believe theservice, which covers a member's bounced check for a fee, shouldcarry with it an annual percentage rate like those seen on lendingproducts. Others feel that overdraft protection programs shouldn'tbe aggressively marketed by credit unions as they can encouragebounced checks.
