WASHINGTON - The Mortgage Bankers Association introduced a newconsumer Web site - Home Loan Learning Center(www.homeloanlearningcenter.com) that provides consumers withcomprehensive information in an easy format on all aspects ofhomebuying and homeownership. Topics on the site includeunderstanding the basics of homebuying, such as the importance ofconsumers' credit record and if needed, improving it before theyapply for a mortgage loan; finding the right home; finding amortgage lender; identifying which loan product best fits theirfinancial situation, and "shopping a loan" with various lenders toensure the consumer gets the best mortgage. MBA President/CEOJonathan Kempner said the site will give people interested inbecoming homeowners the knowledge they need to more confidentlynavigate through the mortgage transaction process. A nationalsurvey of 600 adults conducted by the MBA in May showed more than50% of consumers planning to buy a home want more information onthe homebuying process, and 95% feel it's important to have accessto information that is easy to understand.
