DALLAS – The $9 billion Southwest Corporate says it is doing all it can to get its credit union members up to speed on Check 21, which becomes effective Oct. 28. The corporate is conducting a series of Check 21 clinics in 13 cities during July and August. Southwest describes the clinics as hands-on and as a venue where CUs can develop their individual Check 21 plans. "We plan to provide detailed and customized information and tools that will help each credit union to map out their strategy for implementation," said Brad Ganey, director of item processing for Southwest Corporate. The sessions will be held in San Antonio, Little Rock, Shreveport, Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Albuquerque, El Paso, Austin, Lubbock, Dallas-Fort Worth, Oklahoma City, Houston, and Jacksonville. Southwest Corporate is one of the largest credit union item processors, processing 360 million checks last year.
