BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Credit union data processor EPL used its recent 26th Annual User's Conference to showcase its new open system strategic approach. The new approach is based on its I-Power system that runs on Sun Microsystems hardware and an Oracle database. EPL President and CEO Gregg Hipp, speaking at the opening general session, said the company was really at a turning point three years ago, and fortunately its owners made the decision to re-engineer the system. EPL Chief Information Officer Michael Stoeckert said creating a truly open strategy meant changing not just the system, but also some of the people and procedures at EPL. EPL serves 150 credit unions and is wholly-owned by credit unions.
