LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Former NCUA Board Member Bob Swan has joined the staff of CUSO Partners LLC, a credit union-owned securities broker/dealer as a consultant. D. Henry Blevins, SVP/investor relations of the company said Swan’s employment with CUSO Partners was effective April 1. “We did a trial run with Bob at the CUNA GAC at our booth in the exhibition hall to see if our personalities worked together, and they fit like a glove,” said Blevins. Swan served on the NCUA Board from 1990-1996. Since leaving the agency, the Tooele, Utah-native has started his own credit union lobbying and consulting firm and has lobbied on several occasions for the Utah League of Credit Unions in the on-going battle in that state between credit unions and banks. Swan said he plans to continue to operate his consulting and lobbying business while working for CUSO Partners. “It will be a full plate, but there’s no conflict of interests,” he said, adding that he’s looking forward to “getting back on the road and meeting with credit unions.” Commenting on his new opportunity with CUSO Partners, Swan said when he first saw CUSO Partners’ program he thought “it was a great opportunity for credit unions to increase their return on their investment portfolio and give them an alternative on how they’ve been investing. NCUA examiners look to see if credit unions are making choices in their investments and not locking themselves in with one firm or one type of investment. They look for diversification, and this is an opportunity to help credit unions with that.”
