ATHENS, Ohio – Ribbon-cutting ceremonies were held for Ohio University Credit Union's new 17,000-square-foot East State Street facility. The branch is the largest project in the credit union's 49-year history. "We have built this facility not only for today but for the future as well," said OUCU CEO Phil Meyer. "This expansion will add 7 to 10 new jobs to our economy." Designed by St. Louis-based design/build firm HBE Corporation, the two-story facility features a full-service financial facility for members on the first floor and administrative and operational departments on the second floor. The retail area features a drive-up ATM, self-service safe deposit boxes, four drive-through lanes, a mortgage specialist, a member business manager and a member accounts area. There are two computers for member use and a room that can be used for training and seminars. Investment and tax services are also offered on the first floor. The new state-of-the-art safe deposit boxes are only the second installation of their kind in Ohio, according to vendor Diebold. Once members are set up with their safe deposit box, they enter their personal code, and put their right hand under a scanner, which then opens the day gate to the boxes. The new office will be open on Saturdays, a feature that members have been requesting, says Meyer.
