WASHINGTON – Some of the largest credit union CEOs around the country and the trade associations that serve them met recently in Atlanta to converse on the latest issues for credit unions. Every year, CUNA invites the CEOs of the largest credit unions with at least one from each state, league presidents, and the CEOs of CUNA, US Central, NAFCU, CUNA Mutual, and NASCUS to the hush-hush annual gathering. The meeting is kept completely off the record so everyone would truly be free to express themselves, CUNA Vice President of Communications and Media Outreach Pat Keefe said, with input, when requested, from the national and state leaders. CUNA, CUNA Mutual and U.S. Central sponsor the annual roundtable meeting, with registration fees helping defer the costs, but the meeting is independent of any association, Keefe said. The CUNA chairman typically appoints a committee of CEOs to set the agenda and CUNA staffs the meeting. Keefe would only go so far as to say the discussion was "topical, insightful and constructive."
