RALEIGH, N.C. – The North Carolina League, in conjunction with eight League chapters, has developed the "State Capital Connection" program to give credit union representatives the opportunity to get to know their elected officials in Raleigh, as well as for legislators to get feedback on issues important to credit unions. For five consecutive weeks starting May 11, credit union representatives will travel to Raleigh to meet with their local legislators. NCCUL VP of Governmental/Regulatory Affairs Dan Schline said the program will raise credit unions' visibility "and help us educate a larger group of legislators on the credit union difference." On May 11, chapter members will have dinner with Sens. Linda Garrou and Kay Hagan, the co-chairs of the state Senate Appropriations Committee. On May 12, they'll head to the North Carolina General Assembly to meet with other state lawmakers from their district.
